Overcoming Self Doubt

I can

I want to say that overcoming self doubt is easy to do. But, in reality, it's probably one of the hardest things to over come. There seems to always be that little voice in the back of our heads that says, "Are you sure you can do it? It's to hard you can't do it!"

I am learning that on a daily, every time I step into the gym and my daughter says here is something we haven't done before it's going to be harder, that voice screams, "YOU CAN'T DO THAT, IT'S TO HARD!" I'm learning to scream back and say, "Sure I can do, at least I'll try and see how it goes." Most of the time, I can do it, it is hard, but I don't break and it may hurt for a minute, but in the end I know I'm better and stronger for just taking the step to do it.

Why do we get so caught up in the thought, "I can't do it?" What is it that over powers our mind. Is it because NOT doing it is so much easier, we think? For me, it's so much more devastating when I don't do it, my self talk, my confidence is trashed. All I think about is, "Why didn't I just do it? Why didn't I just push myself a little to see if I was able?" That talk is way more hurtful then just saying, yes, I CAN try, yes, I CAN do it, and taking that first step. I am soooo proud of myself when I try. I am learning to hold that awesome feeling of just trying, and that feeling of being proud of myself for just getting out of my head, out of my comfort zone, and just doing it!

For those that listen to that little negative voice telling you that you can't, recognize it, acknowledge it, and say, YES, I CAN! See how it feels when you do the hard thing anyway, see how proud of yourself you are, what you learned, and the confidence you build within, because you stepped out of your comfort zone, and just did it anyway.

I am proud of you! I am proud of me! For creating a better mindset, and positive mental attitude, and going after the high goal. It's one step at a time, one foot in front of the other. Do this and in time you'll get there. It's hard, it's challenging, and you get tested, but reap the reward every time to conquer your fear, your negative voice, and say, YES I CAN, and just do it!!
